Recently, I had a really enjoyable morning doing something a little different – joining Jo Bailey on the Drive Show at Phoenix FM, the community radio station based in Brentwood.
It was a great conversation, and one I found genuinely energising.
Jo is a natural interviewer – warm, curious, and brilliant at putting guests at ease. Our chat covered everything I talk about every day: why so many people put off writing a Will, what a Lasting Power of Attorney actually does, and how to make the whole process feel far less daunting than people tend to imagine.
The title of the segment – Cutting Through the Jargon to Protect What Matters – felt like a perfect summary of what Beaulieu Wills and Estate Planning is all about.
Because that really is the heart of it.
This industry can sometimes feel unnecessarily complicated. Legal terms. Formal language. Documents that seem designed to confuse rather than reassure. My whole approach – whether I’m sitting at someone’s kitchen table in Essex or chatting on the radio – is to strip all of that away and have a plain, honest conversation.
What do you have? Who matters most to you? What would you want to happen if you weren’t around to say so yourself?
Those aren’t scary questions. They’re important ones. And once people start answering them, they usually find the rest follows quite naturally.
